morning babble / Friday 02-04-22
This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes, it gets tidied up; but other times, not so much. When all else fails: watch the video!
3 Day Fast begins this Monday night – AFTER dinner
331 days until EXIT PLAN
Finished one of my 5 goals for the week – wrapped up reading Corbin Reiff’s book called: Total F*cking Godhead: The Biography of Chris Cornell
My son is the Tin Man in his school’s production of “The Wizard of Oz” – lots of Tin Man Music going on in this household.
New Music Friday:
- Buddy of mine (Bob) and business partner – texted me the other day how he just heard Red Hot Chili Peppers on the Oldies station in Philly. It was “Under the Bridge” – so, I looked it up. That song was released on March 10, 1992 – basically 30 years ago. In 1992, any song from 1962 . . . was on the Oldies station in any city in America. Old. Anyway – new album from the Red Hot Chili Peppers will be here in April – Unlimited Love. We’ll get 17 tracks. Also, this album has Rick Rubin as the producer AND it marks the band’s first release with the guitarist John Frusciante since 2006 – back with all the really, really good albums. But today, we do get the first single released, it’s “Black Summer.” I’m enjoying it. Still hoping for a Sir Pyscho Sexy or Suck My Kiss song, but I’ll take it.
- Dr. Dre has released a 6 song EP – all featured in Grand Theft Auto: The Contract. GTA – Vice City – that was my game. It would be 3am before I knew it and then it was like “who needs sleep” – one more game. We were hearing some of these songs because of the game, but now they are out on the streaming services. I was listening to “Gospel” which features Eminem. By the way, I know you have seen that Super Bowl Halftime Line-up, right: Dre will be joined by Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Kendrick Lamar. By the way, talking about being heard on an Oldies radio station. Dr. Dre’s album Chronic was released back in 1992 – that’s 30 years. Who’s putting Dre on an Oldies station?
- Full album drop today from Korn – Requiem is out. All 9? songs – that’s so close to being just an EP. 32 minutes worth of new music. I’m still game. Recent single that they are pushing is called “Lost in the Grandeur”. FYI – Their debut album, Korn, was released in 1994. – 28 years old.
- Megan Fox’s fiancé (Machine Gun Kelly) and Will Smith’s daughter (Willow) released a new song today – it’s called “Emo Girl”. It could easily have been performed by Blink 182 back on the Warped Tour (that was the early 2000s). Anyway – it is a good song. Nice hook, good beat. Gets in your head. The 6th studio album from Machine Gun Kelly Mainstream Sellout, comes out in its entirety on March 25th.
Please subscribe on YouTube and spread the Babble wherever you can – Thank you!
QUOTE OF THE DAY:
“The most influential advice he gave me was that his success did not come from a desire for success, it was more from a passion and an absolute love for what he did.” – via the eldest daughter of Chris Cornell – Lily (page 332 of Total F*cking Godhead)
