new music friday / Friday 02-14-25

(New Music Friday Intro)

Happy Valentine’s Day Weekend! Spread that love around . . . even to them. Everyone’s like – who’s them? Cowboys Fans . . . it’s a sad time for them. (picture of the parade) They probably wouldn’t have gotten any love there – that was a shot of the Art Museum on Friday for the Eagles Super Bowl parade – before it got really crowded (picture) And – that’s a picture of my gang that went to the parade. It’s why New Music Friday is a little tardy. Who’s coming up: Bryce Fox, Japanese Breakfast, Bon Iver, FJM, and Saint Motel

(Countdown Video)

New Music Friday:

  • Bryce Fox already has a busy 2025 lined up while touring with AWOLNATION, but he added to his workload fun by announcing the upcoming release of a new album called The Butterfly and the Bomb (“Butterfly”) That song “Butterfly” is a part of an EP called The Butterfly – 4 of those 5 songs will be found on this upcoming album along with 9 others like the song “King is Dead” (clip) Today though, we’ve got a new one to add to the Valentine’s Day Weekend playlist called “Psychopath” (clip)
  • Japanese Breakfast is a band that I talked about last month. Remember – Michelle Zauner is Japanese Breakfast and her memoir is Crying In H Mart (clip) “Orlando in Love” was the 1st release we heard off her upcoming 4th album: For Melancholy Brunettes (& sad women). The whole album drops on March 21st, but today we have the 2nd song release called: “Mega Circuit” (clip)
  • Last October, Justin Vernon aka Bon Iver released a 4 pack of songs EP called SABLE (“SPEYSIDE” clip) Those same 4 songs will lead off his upcoming new album which will have 8 other songs – 12 in all if my calculator proves correct – album is called SABLE, fABLE (clip) “Everything Is Peaceful Love” is the first release off this new album, which is the first from Bon Iver since 2019 – arrival time is April 11th. //
  • Several quick hits of new music: Father John Misty who released Mahashmashana last November. Love that album, so much so – I got it on vinyl. Anyway – for all you FJM fans, he released an album of demos from his I Love You, Honeybear album – which turns 10 this year // Our Lady Peace snuck in a new song on their EP release called OLP 30 Vol. 3 – it’s 5 song of their past work along with this new one called “No Angels in this Town” // I listen to the weekly show Advanced Placement on Sirius XM’s AltNation channel. I heard new song from the band Saint Motel which also just dropped a new album called: Symphony in the Sky. I’m still digging into it, but here’s a sip of the sound I experienced with the song called “Get It At Home” (clip)

Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
