(New Music Friday Intro)
Happy Weekend! Calendar says Spring, but it’s still cold around me. I won’t dwell on that because I’m excited about New Music Friday. Coming up – Good Neighbors, Amble, Noah Cyrus, The Black Keys, and Ben Rector.
(Countdown Video)
New Music Friday:
- Driving around the other day, I heard the song “Ripple” from Good Neighbours (clip) I thought it was new and it sort of is – it was released in January. Good song about being there for your friends. Also, in January, the band was on tour with Foster the People (clip) Yeah – those guys. During that touring time in LA, they (Good Neighbours) wrote and road tested another new song “Starry Eyed” (clip) Today, the rest of us get the chance to experience the song that the duo describes as “It’s about that star struck feeling that someone gives you the first time you meet them.” Let’s hear a little more. (“Starry Eyed”)
- Dua Lipa sings “Swan Song” (“Swan Song” Dua Lipa) unfortunately that’s all Google was finding me when I searched “Swan Song” and the band, Amble (“Schoolyard Days”) Released a couple weeks ago – that song is “Schoolyard Days” from Amble – a band whose debut album “Reverie” is out on May 23rd. (“Swan Song”) And we get back to the song I was looking for in the beginning from Amble “Swan Song”. Looking forward to May 23rd.
- (clip) “Flowers” was a huge hit for Miley Cyrus and has a video to go along with it that makes my eyes very happy (“Flowers”) Miley also has a younger sister who sang a duet with Shaboozey (“My Fault”) Noah Cyrus is her name and she has a new collaboration with the band – Fleet Foxes. On her new song, “Don’t Put It All on Me,” Noah Cyrus sings along with the band’s lead singer, Robin Pecknold. (clip)
- Several quick hits of new music: Deerhoof debuted the first single “Immigrant Songs” for their upcoming album – Noble and Godlike in Ruin – on Craigslist. Looking for a sofa and instead find a new jam. You can hear it on all the other platforms now // Two albums that I’ve highlighted a couple times before landed today. Japanese Breakfast and Bryce Fox. Two different sounds, but I’m enjoying them both // Two artists that have upcoming album releases dropped new songs. The Black Keys with “Babygirl” (clip) and Mr. Ben Rector with “Part of Life” (clip)
