morning babble / Friday 09-27-24

DISCLAIMER:

This is the scribble that leads to the babble.

Sometimes, it gets tidied up; other times, not so much.

When all else fails: there’s video!

(Linkin Park “Heavy is the Crown” clip)

Some controversary around the new Linkin Park music coming out.

I just have to say that I’m on the side of really liking it.

Happy Weekend – a full Autumn weekend. Next week is October, then Thanksgiving, and then (Elf clip) I was going to say 2025, but I guess there is that Santa thing happening, too. Just an FYI – Kelly Clarkson just released “You For Christmas” (clip)

It just came out today – it counts.

New Music Friday:

I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!

  • One of my favorite bands (clip) who came out with two albums last year (show them) The National have announced a new album (“I Need My Girl” clip) It’s not new material, but instead a live album called Rome. Officially drops on December 13th, so a Christmas vinyl gift for Brent is there for the taking (clip) The show that was recorded was from their June 3rd concert in the name of the album: Rome – 21 tracks but 4 have been released already. I played a clip of “I Need My Girl” but here’s a little bit of “Lit Up” which first originated on their Alligator album from 2005 (clip)
  • Couple weeks ago, I mentioned how Lady Gaga plans to release her long-awaited seventh album next year in February. Album is being referred to as “LG7”. But today, we got a whole different album from the actress who plays Harley Quinn (“Oh, When The Saints”) Big band classics can be heard on what’s being called – Harlequin – and also the companion album to her upcoming film: Joker: Folie à Deux (fully ado) (“Folie à Deux” song clip) Fully Ado is one of two new songs on the album. The other 11 are wonderfully done covers. The other new one is called “Happy Mistake” (clip)
  • This guy – Alex Warren – he was actually on my Missed Music Monday this past Monday. (“Burning Down” clip) He’s a got a lot of plays on a bunch of his singles. Those singles can all be found on now his fully released album called: You’ll be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1) (clip of “Catch My Breath”) “Catch My Breath” is the song being pushed by Spotify today, but you still have 9 others to enjoy. I sorta enjoyed the last track which also the title track of the album – “You’ll be Alright, Kid” (clip)
  • Several quick hits of new music: British rock band The Cure. That sorta sounds like “Rap Guy’s Girlfriends” (clip) Anyway, The Cure – they released their first new song in 16 years. All 6 minutes and 54 seconds of it – whew – it’s called “Alone” // The Weeknd and Playboi Carti have officially released “Timeless” which is the second preview off of the Weeknd’s new album: Hurry Up Tomorrow // Mother Mother is a band that I listened to on many runs of mine with their song “Get Up” (clip) They just released Mother EP – yes, by the band: Mother Mother. It’s a different sound that I enjoy tuning into at times like “Fat Kids” (clip)

Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about – you’ll even see Sir Mix-A-Lot there, and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from JD McPherson (his album just dropped), Lil Durk, and the non-stop song making machine: Fuller (clip) Anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

Please subscribe on YouTube and spread the Babble wherever you can – Thank you!
