Happy 50th Meghan! (right?) / Did I have coffee? / Comics on a Sunday! /

morning babble / Sunday 11-28-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

First things first – Happy first day of Hannukah to all of those celebrating and / Happy Birthday to my younger sister, Meghan.

Next – Mouth tape. Well, I started the night with it. Reviewing the results of my watch – it appears that I wasn’t sleeping too well in the beginning, but then around 3:30am, I had a quick deep sleep action. But then, I did wake up around 4:15am and realized that the mouth tape was off – not sure how that happened, but assuming that it happened shortly before 3:30am. I then turned off my alarm and crashed until about 6:30am with much better sleep. So – I’ll have to keep trying.

Also – Muddy November continues, BUT – I do have to admit to something. My wife and I had Ben & Jerry’s last night. We always split a pint. She puts my half in a bowl, because I like additional hot fudge, because if we’re going down the ice cream route – I’m all in. She doesn’t typically do the fudge, but eats her half out of the pint. We started up a show of Ugly Delicious on Netflix to enjoy our late night together. I was several bites in when it hit me and I grabbed her arm to slowly read the pint of ice cream in her hand – Coffee Toffee Bar Crunch – a favorite of ours, but I still explained “What are doing to me woman?” Okay – maybe not exactly like that, but I was caught off guard. I still haven’t had coffee, espressos, or lattes with shots of espresso, but as for the Coffee Ice Cream – well, I finished my bowl, because at that point – I was all in again. I still believe that I’m okay with saying Muddy November continues on – No coffee is the goal and the liquid joy has not crossed these lips all month. Wednesday – game over.

I haven’t run yet. #331 happened on the mill as Michigan beat Ohio State. #332 will happen on the mill as well.

Books on a Sunday!

  • Like I said holiday decorating of the house slowed my reading time down to finish this book off – Leadership in Turbulent Times by Doris Kearns Goodwin. Next week – it will be recapped. As for today . . .

COMICS on a Sunday! Visited my home for comics – Captain Blue Hen Comics in Newark, DE – always support your local comic book store. AND – if you don’t have one, you could always visit mine online! Click here for that.

  • #7 of 8 of Marjorie Finnegan was picked up and already gobbled up. 1 issue to go and that series ends . . . or does it? Garth Ennis is the mastermind behind this one.
  • Speaking of Garth, I got issue #6 of 6 for his Batman Reptilian series. I’m actually a couple behind, but chose to go back to #1 and read straight through. I’ll have that done by the end of today.
  • AND – a new series I got was Joy Operations from the mind of Brian Michael Bendis. Looking forward to that one.
  • Lastly, I did pick up some comics for both the kids. Hoping for them to have further enjoyment with reading. It doesn’t have to be all learning.

morning babble / Saturday 11-27-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I totally forgot how heavy all the Christmas decorations were. I also forgot how much time just zips by when putting up all that stuff. Our library room is completely revamped and done. We’ve got the tree, 2 Christmas Villages and Deco throughout. I think another library tour will be coming. Pretty much everything got knocked out, but the big village that we have of “Christmas in the City” – that appears to be unfolding today at some point.

I didn’t run yet – #331 coming up on the mill with a football game on OR maybe on the trails.

Muddy November has 4 more days, but like I said, I’m enjoying my MUD. Coffee though will open up the option of afternoon 3 o’clock treats – both good & bad.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – Are you going to do the mouth tape tonight? I think. I hope. I do get claustrophobic, so I am concerned on how long it will last.
  • Question #2 – What are you doing after 366 of your 5K runs? I will post on January 2nd.

New Music Friday / Cannoli pie? / Brent on the shelf?

morning babble / Friday 11-26-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Too much, but I’m still going! Got my pumpkin pie for breakfast.

Muddy November continues – no java – all mudwater!

Go get some MUD/WTR – http://fbuy.me/v/bevans11

I made it to the mill and did run #330 of the 5Ks for the year. I did have some whiskey last night – good stuff, too.

Mark Manson books:

  1. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck
  2. Will

New Music Friday:

  • Jack Kays got to work with Travis Barker and he released his song “Outrun Myself.” Well sung where you can really feel his emotions throughout it. He had another album of 8 songs released earlier this year called Mixed Emotions
  • Claire Rosinkranz, known for her viral hit “Backyard Boyfriend”, released a new single today called “Don’t Miss Me”. She did have an EP released earlier this year called 6 of a Billion. I was familiar with her song “Frankenstein” off that one.
  • One year ago, Christina Perri shared the devastating news that her daughter was stillborn. Now, she is honoring the baby her & her husband lost, whom they’ve named Rosie, by releasing an album of lullabies. It’s called Songs for Rosie, the album was actually released this past Wednesday on the 24th — the anniversary of the day Rosie died
  • Ben Rector released a single “The Best Is Yet To Come (A Song For The New Year)” – I really enjoyed the sound and hope in this song. Via his Instagram, I wrote this song on New Years Eve a year ago. Out everywhere Nov. 26. Orchestra/Kids Choir version Dec. 10.
  • HOLIDAY MUSIC – Another one that I missed about a month ago – Jamie Cullum released The Pianoman at Christmas (The Complete Edition) – 30 songs / 1 hour and 45 minutes of holiday tunage – jazzy sound to your holidays.

Happy Turkey Day / I saved Thanksgiving? / The Elf is coming

morning babble / Thursday 11-25-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Happy Turkey Day! AND the only Thursday that we don’t call “Friday Eve” because it’s THANKSGIVING! Gobble, Gobble!

Thanksgiving is TODAY. One person – “We already had it last Saturday”. Another person was flabbergasted that we scheduled her service on Wednesday (yesterday), because it was “Thanksgiving”. What? Yeah – she then went on to explain that they have Thanksgiving every year on the Wednesday before Turkey Day at 12noon. I moved the service and she proclaimed that I saved Thanksgiving. I was glad to be of help.

Every Thanksgiving morning, we enjoy watching the Macy’s Day Parade as Tom the Turkey leads the way before all the balloons and entertainers.

Also, with this holiday, the Elf is coming tonight. He’s baaaaaaaaaaaaaack.

I ran on the mill early – #329 of 5K every day!

Muddy November continues on – no liquid from the coffee bean.

Thanksgiving Eve!

#328 happened on the mill! Hoping to get out this holiday weekend though. With the kids, too. Get us all ready for that Reindeer Run in Newark on Friday, December 3rd.

Muddy November continues on / No Coffee / One week and I can have some. I’d be more excited if I knew where I could get an Eggnog Latte.

Working again with my son today – which is awesome. We had a great day yesterday. Except for the McDonald’s – well, initially it sounded and was good, but then my body was “what did you do?” What was really nice about the McDonald’s trip was the drive-thru woman who took our money. She was amazing. Just starting talking it up and explaining why she was so excited about Thanksgiving. Asked about ours. My son and I pulled away with smiles on our faces because of her.

Short Work Week! / Listening to INXS all day today / Quote via “Sexy Tough” aka . . . Michael Hutchence

Short work week – especially for turkeys.

I ran #326 of 5K runs – in a row

Muddy November continues. Yesterday, I picked up coffee for my wife. A little spilled onto my hand and I almost licked my hand – would that have counted? Also, I need to clarify lattes. I did have a Chai Latte – that’s okay though – no coffee, no espresso. Nothing from the coffee ben.

Lost Michael Hutchence – 24 years ago today. Remember that day – driving around in the radio station “Big Ass Truck” for 94.7 The Rock of Delaware. Heard it on the radio . . . not the station I should have been listening to.

Turkey Trot Recap / Books on a Sunday: Next book up – Chris Cornell / Faulkner quote via Ryan Holiday

morning babble / Sunday 11-21-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Just to follow up again on yesterday’s Turkey Trot – the whole family did it, which was amazing. Elliott crossed the line and as I was congratulating him, he took my water and downed it. A little while later, we saw Violet stopping 10 feet short of the finish line and sort of sauntering across, but she did it! My wife was obviously close behind with eyes on our Viva. So, kids had a good time and got excited about another race. They heard about the 2021 Reindeer Run & Romp 5K on Friday, December 3rd at night in Newark DE – the 15th Annual . . . and that’s what we will be doing as a family. However, this time, a friend of ours will be running with Violet and my wife can be the official welcome crew at the finish line.

So, run #324 was 3rd Place in my age group / It wasn’t a personal record – about 20 seconds off. I know that I could have done better. #325 is coming up on the mill.

Muddy November continues as well. No coffee.

Race Day! Turkey Trot in Newark!! / Podcast learnings with Tim Ferriss via All the Hacks / Zeno quote

morning babble / Saturday 11-20-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Lately, I just don’t have enough time to listen to all the podcasts that I want to be listening to. I have so many downloaded and ready to go. Chase Jarvis has an interview with Malcolm Gladwell. Peter Attia has one with James Clear. And then there’s the world of NFTs and Cryptocurrency – just a ton of new stuff that I’ve been following and listening to. Making my mind fly in all kinds of directions.

And then this conversation stuck out to me between Tim Ferriss and Chris Hutchins – it was like a combo podcast with the Ferriss show pushing it, but it was on the Hutchins podcast too – “All the Hacks.”

Ferriss was asked for his process for reassessing what he’s doing.
The response: “Simple check-in and boiled down to this: How do you feel when you first wake up? How easily to do you go to sleep?”

I didn’t run yet. #324 of my 5K runs for the year will be officially done at the 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot in Newark, DE.

Muddy November pours on. Like that? Anyway. Even if I wanted to cheat yesterday at a Starbucks – I couldn’t find one that was open. I was going to get a Matcha Green Tea Latte with hopes of a Pumpkin Scone.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – After Muddy November – what’s next? December. I have an idea. Nothing really too challenging, but I’m hoping to make something fun. Still pondering.
  • Question #2 – After the Turkey Trot, any other races this year? No. At least, I don’t think so. I realize that there are a bunch of Santa Runs but I already know that my December is filling up with holiday stuff on the weekends.
  • Questions #3 – When’s your next fast? Monday, December 6th – my last of the year. I will have done a 3 day fast every month of the year.

Brrrrr! / New Music Friday: some woman named Adele? Also, Eddie Vedder, Elbow, Sia, and babblings

morning babble / Friday 11-19-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I ran #323 of the 5K runs for the year 2021. Tomorrow – race day. 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot 5K.

Muddy November continues

New Music Friday:

  • Adele. That’s all you need to know. Adele. Album name is 30. Go listen – 12 songs – 58 minutes and 18 seconds of glorious tunage.
  • Elbow released their ninth studio album, Flying Dream 1, Lead singer, Guy Garvey – if you like the sound of Peter Gabriel, you’ll enjoy this guy.
  • Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker – USS – has a new album out called The Science & Artfunkel Victory Lap. I had to hit up Wikipedia. I liked what they wrote explaining their music: “The band’s sound was a mixture of drum and bass beats, grunge-like guitar riffs, and 2-step rhythms. “We like to call what we do the campfire after-party”, Ash Buchholz has said; “It’s like you’re at Nirvana Unplugged but there’s a drum and bass party and glow sticks all around you.” Sadly though – this is it. Last, last album. Touring for the last, last time.
  • Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder is back with another new song called “The Haves,” which will appear on his new solo album called Earthling. The album now has a release date: Feb 11th.
  • HOLIDAY MUSIC – Spoon are among the latest artists to share a new cover for Spotify’s holiday singles playlist. They did a rendition of the Beatles’ “Christmas Time (Is Here Again).” Lucifer on the Sofa, their 10th album, is out February 11. They did a video for the record’s first single, “The Hardest Cut.”
  • HOLIDAY Music – Sia – I missed this one. She did what Ben Rector did. Couple years ago, she came out with Every Day is Christmas. This year, she came out with the deluxe edition that included 3 new songs: “Pin Drop,” “Santa Visits Everyone” and “Snowman (Slowed Down and Snowed in Remix).” I really enjoyed “Candy Cane Lane” as well as “Ho Ho Ho.”
