AMA Saturday: Wallet talk & NFT learning via Morning Brew/ Marcus Aurelius quote via Marilyn Russell

morning babble / Saturday 11-06-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I ran! Shocker!! #310 for the 5Ks this year – all of ’em in a row.

Muddy November continues – no java yesterday. No offers from clients either – so that 4 day streak ended and now it’s Saturday. I might hit up a Starbucks for some sort of tea latte . . . just because I want one of those Pumpkin scones, which I know will be gone by December. For the 3 Day Fast, I’ll be having Black Tea because the MUD\WTR would break my fast. Go get some MUD/WTR – http://fbuy.me/v/bevans11

Oh, my daughter is doing well since her COVID shot yesterday. Arm hurts – swimming is probably out. AND – this is all I’m saying that might toe the line of a touchy subject. BUT – I appreciate the websites being sent to me explaining the possibility of how dangerous these shots could be. We all have opinions and I read it all. BUT – when you send me these websites, I am amused how my computer’s antivirus program prevents me from opening them. My computer got the COVID shot from McAfee and all of these dug up articles are being flagged that they will cause problems to my computer. Amused by that.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS TONIGHT – roll back those clocks an hour tonight!!

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – Do you like your new wallet? No. I can’t get anything out of it. I understand that it probably needs to be broken in, but standing at the counter and trying to rip out a card is not fun especially when you yank out the wrong one. Good luck ever seeing my Amor Fati coin again – located within the middle pocket. Need Needle Nose Plyers to have that escape the clutches of this wallet. The one benefit – nothing is falling out. I am looking at one of my old-time favorites: THE HAVANA – COOL BLACK WITH BLUE INTERIOR It’s a wallet from J.Fold – I had one back in the day and loved it.
  • Question #2 – Are you going to do an NFT? I’m not going to say “no”. It really is blowing up. Via my Morning Brew newsletter I learned: “5,000 JPEG lovers schmoozed in NYC this past week for the non-fungible token conference NFT.NYC. In 2019, the event had just 460 attendees. Last quarter, more than $10 billion worth of NFTs were sold, up 700% from the quarter before, per DappRadar.” You can get the Morning Brew newsletter by clicking here to sign up. Viva gets her shot / New Music Friday: Travis Scott/ The Arkells/ Limp Bizkit/ Quote from Sandi Thom

morning babble / Friday 11-05-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Colder mornings and the kids are sleeping in more. Crazy. All hunkered down. We’ve got the heat on – it’s just colder. Mom’s gotta wake them up for school. I don’t see them in the morning. Again – crazy.

Daughter Violet aka Viva is getting her shot today / Aaron Rodgers should have too – he then could be playing this weekend.

Muddy November! 4th day in a row that I was offered coffee on location 1 dumped / 3 passed. No coffee . . . Go get some MUD/WTR – http://fbuy.me/v/bevans11

New Music Friday:

  • U2 released a new song called “Your Song Saved My Life.” It appears on the soundtrack to the upcoming animated film Sing 2, which Bono stars in. That movie hits theaters on 12/22.
  • Charli XCX will have a new album out next year called Crash – available in its entirety on March 18th. We already got to hear “Good Ones” which I talked about before and you can check out the video again – Lots of dancing . . . at a funeral . . . on a coffin. We all handled loss in different ways. Today though – we’ve got “Good Shapes”. No video though
  • By the way, this past Sunday (Halloween) – Limp Bizkit dropped their new album Still Sucks. I can’t deny – I am excited to listen to this entire thing
  • Travis Scott dropped two singles at midnight – “Escape Plan” and “Mafia” – two different sounding songs. Totally enjoyed the 1st release “Escape Plan”, but “Mafia” – I might like that one more now. Both are off his upcoming album Utopia – when it’s coming out – TBD
  • Holiday Music – Elle King “Please Come Home for Christmas” – I like it. Can’t find too much info on it. Even if you visit her website – as of this very moment though.
  • Holiday Music – Arkells just released new holiday original track, “The Last Christmas (We Ever Spend Apart).” The “B side track” is the band’s previously released original holiday song “Pub Crawl,”
  • Holiday Music – Steve Perry – the former Journey front man and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer – has a holiday album called The Season. It contains eight tracks which consists of six Christmas tunes and two New Year’s Eve favorites – don’t blink because it’s over in just over 25 minutes. But – you do get “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” as well as “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas”

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Day #2 of No Java is in the books – Muddy November continues. I totally forgot to ask my daughter to mark it this time until it was too late. I was offered coffee from another client yesterday and politely said no. He did appear slightly befuddled since I had NEVER done that before EVER. I didn’t explain it either – always a little awkward especially when it’s someone who I don’t even knows about the Babbles or the 5K runs. It could turn into a long conversation and then my work doesn’t get done.

I ran – #307 of the 5K runs

Quote of the Day yesterday was from Jay Acunzo. Click here to sign up for his newsletter. In a recent newsletter, he explains how he puts off things to the last minute – like his newsletter. By the way, I don’t have a newsletter yet, but you can get on my email list and I can keep you posted on when that unfolds. Visit my website.

Anyway – Jay Acunzo calls it… “imposterfectionism. It’s one part imposter syndrome, one part perfectionism. I NEED to feel my latest project is perfect or else I’ll be exposed as a fraud. Whatever the case, I know: I’m up against the clock. And that’s why I do this. Being up against the clock is the best way I’ve found to walk out on the wire. Without the safety gear, too. I don’t have time for it all. I don’t have the ability to concern myself with whether or not this entry is what I should be doing or not. It’s what I FEEL like doing. It’s what I CAN do. It’s ALL I can do, given the deadline looming.”

Some people would call it procrastination, but I’m with him. When you final have that deadline time, it’s amazing how you can focus down and get to the end time goal.

I was tested early. First stop of the day – client didn’t know – but, whenever I visit, he has this really fancy machine and makes me a cup of coffee. Really expensive good coffee, too.

Muddy November is on! No Java. What’s in MUD\WTR?

  • Lionsmane (mental performance)
  • Cordyceps (physical performance)
  • Reishi (recovery and immunity)
  • Chaga (overall health)
  • Turmeric (inflammation)
  • Cacao (mood)

I was lethargic last night. Crashed before I journaled which is so unlike me. A podcast of Dave Chang’s is what got me to the mill today for my #306 5K run of the year!

Halloween Recap / It’s Muddy November – No liquid from the coffee bean

morning babble / Monday 11-01-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

I was the one that stayed back and handed out candy. I ate it along the way I did. I should have had a beer because that would have stopped me from my candy inhalation.

Tons of kids that were throughout the neighborhood – amazing, when in our first year here – I think 4 years ago? 3 groups of kids / 1 didn’t come down the steps because he was scared / the second scared my dogs because he was dressed as Scooby and began beating on the door to rattle them / Last one, some kid popped out from nowhere / no costume / no “Trick or Treat” or Happy Halloween – I gave him candy anyway. But again – this year – a ton of kids. We didn’t run out of candy but the thought was crossing my mind.

When my wife got back, she explained that there were like 4 houses giving out Jello shots to the parents – apparently, it’s a thing for our neighborhood?

305 of 5K runs for the year – still going!

Muddy November is officially on. My last liquid from the java bean known as coffee . . . was an Apple Crisp Macchiato from Starbucks. It was delicious.

Moment of clarity / Mind racing with ideas of saving money, time, everything / Trying to figure out what I really did today that was different. I did relax in the house library, read a book – nothing on the phone, enjoyed coffee. I did have 4 Butterscotch Krimpets. Maybe that was it – I wouldn’t mind replicating that for breakfast tomorrow.

I ran #303 of 5K runs for the year! And yes – in a row.

AMA Saturday:

  • Question #1 – Are you doing another race? Yes – 49th Annual Newark Turkey Trot in Newark, DE on Saturday, November 20th. I’m doing the 5K, not the 10K. 2 years ago, I ran the 10K and I remember pushing it a little too hard and needing a rest from running in the weeks afterwards. I can’t rest this year.
  • Questions #2 – Are you really going without caffeine in November? No – nothing from the coffee bean. As for caffeine, I know that I’ll have some tea at times. Even the MUD/WTR has a bit of caffeine in it. 1/7th. But no coffee, espresso, lattes, none of that. Excited to see how it could save some time in the morning (I do a pour over) as well as money – I do enjoy treating myself to a cup of Joe or latte or something via the coffee bean.

New Music Friday with Ed Sheeran, Spoon, The Talbott Brothers / Jamie Foxx story via Tim Ferriss & quote

morning babble / Friday 10-29-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Ben & Jerry’s ice cream was enjoyed last night: Change is Brewing. The new flavor features cold brew coffee ice cream, marshmallow swirls and fudge brownies. Trouble getting my coffee yesterday on the road: 2 Dunkins and 1 Starbucks – closed. No help. I hit a Wawa.

I ran #302 on the mill. 5K every day.

New Music Friday:

  • Ed Sheeran released his fifth studio album today, = (pronounced equals). Several singles have already been released throughout the summer, but today we get all 14 cuts – nearly 50 minutes of Ed. One of my favorite podcast shows from Tim Ferriss podcast was when he had Jamie Foxx on – I’ll provide links. Jamie was talking about how Ed Sheeran slept on his floor for 6 weeks (23:00) Ed came over from London and wanted to do this live show in LA that Foxx was a head of. He warned Ed that it’s mostly black and that they don’t care about London and the accent. Ed’s response – “I think I’ll be okay”. Ed Sheeran walks up with his red hair and a ukulele within 12 minutes standing ovation.
  • From Philly – Japanese Breakfast, who I talked about earlier this year when they released the Jubilee album back in June. They (or in particular – Michelle Zauner performed for Spotify’s Live at Electric Lady EP series. An 8 pack of goodness, but one song. she covered Weezer’s “Say It Ain’t So”. Very well done.
  • Death Cab for Cutie released a deluxe reissue of their 2001 studio LP The Photo Album – 20th anniversary. You get 35 remastered tracks that includes studio outtakes, unreleased songs, rarities, UK B-sides, demos, and more. Vinyl will arrive in spring 2022. Death Cab always holds an odd place in my heart with music. Their album Plans (2005) was the first album I purchased on an iPod.
  • New Music from The Talbott Brothers – I talked about these guys back in March when I heard the Boss’ song “Dancing in the Dark” – via their album Acoustic Selections From Ghost Talker. Today, we get the single “Open Sky” as described on their website: it’s about wanting what you can’t have and learning to let it go. Striving to be happy with the choices you’ve made and find contentment without settling. There is a longing that keeps us up a night, wondering if we took the road less traveled or if the grass is just always gonna seem greener on the other side.
  • Brent Favorite: Spoon have announced a new record arriving early next year. Lucifer on the Sofa, their 10th album, is out February 11. They did a video for the record’s first single, “The Hardest Cut.” I read this on Pitchfork about what lead singer Britt Daniel’s described the album as “the sound of classic rock as written by a guy who never did get Eric Clapton.”
  • HOLIDAY MUSIC – I missed this one last week. As a kid, Rob Thomas always thought December 26th was the saddest day of the year. This past summer he finally decided that he wanted to do a Christmas album. It wasn’t long before Thomas was decking out his home studio with lights, playing holiday movies and “living Christmas for the whole summer,” while recording Something About Christmas Time the 10-track collection is comprised of originals tracks and covers including Bryan Adams’ “Christmas Time”.

G.O.A.T. announcement / Muddy November begins Monday / Quote via . . . the GOAT

morning babble / Thursday 10-28-21

This is the scribble that leads to the babble. Sometimes it gets tidied up, but sometimes . . . not so much. When all else fails – go watch the video!

Yesterday – I hit 300 runs / surpassed 1000 miles for the year so far / AND next month is MUDDY NOVEMBER. No coffee / No espresso / No lattes / Nothing from the bean

Today – I’m announcing another GOAT to add my list of people who have had a tremendous effect on me. This guy – I’ve read his book / I enjoy his podcasts / BUT – I had to overcome something that he just couldn’t help. He reminded me of a former morning show guy (radio) that I had to sit in on as he was fired. My boss at the time was nervous to how he would react, so since I was the assistant and was taking BJJ – I was called in to sit in and witness. I then had to escort him out. Stop laughing everyone. Anyway. My GOAT simply looked like this other person, but I got past it. Chase Jarvis is my new GOAT.

I got another interview tomorrow . . . I’ll keep you all posted. Spread the Babble!

Please subscribe on YouTube and spread the Babble wherever you can – Thank you!
