(That’s Amore)
New Music Friday opener
Happy Weekend / Happy Memorial Day Weekend! The official kickoff to summer. AND – As prescribed by the government, all radio stations have countdowns this long holiday weekend, lik The Memorial Day 500 (sound effect) That’s a lot of songs, but not in a row of course, there’s commercials. Unless you go that SirusXM – love that thing. Also, this weekend that Garfield movie is out. By the way, That’s Amore – part of the Garfield soundtrack (clip) I’ll have a link at my website.
Why do I know that The Garfield Movie is out? Well, driving around the other day during my 3-Day Fast, I saw billboard of Garfield. Was I drawn to the cat? No. I saw it along side a promotion for the Tastykakes Cat Nap Cupcakes (pix) During a 3-Day Fast, it’s amazing how the sight or even thought of food makes one drool. I had to remove this from my area in fear of . . .

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
13 Songs, 47 minutes of tunage – the album is called Clancy from Twenty-One Pilots. (“Overcompensate” cut) – That’s “Overcompensate”, which we’ve been enjoying since it’s arrival back in February . . . on the 29th. Barely February. But today, we do receive all and so far I’m enjoying everything that I’m hearing – beginning to end.
(Clip of “Eyes Closed”) Now that one is Imagine Dragons and “Eyes Closed” – a song that they releasd a couple weeks ago. The first one of nine songs that will be appearing on their upcoming album – Loom – which fully drops on June 28th. Today though, we get song #2. I found myself dancing to this one. And if anybody knows me, I don’t dance well. I don’t – it’s not in me. I try. Anyway, the song that even made Brent dance – here’s “Nice To Meet You” (clip)
Vince Staples has released his final album on Def Jam Recordings – it’s titled: Dark Times. (picture of album cover) That’s the album cover – I like that. I also like the dark, somber sound I’m hearing throughout the album – a very chill musical ride. (“Shame on the Devil” clip) That song is called “Shame on the Devil” which was our album tease as it was released earlier this week. But now – we do have it all – I count 13 songs to sit back and enjoy. Also, for some more Vince Staples – he does have a Netflix comedy series creatively titled, “The Vince Staples Show” It’s a five-episode show that was released back in February and stars Staples as a (Pitchfork quote) “semi-fictionalized version of himself as he navigates life.” Again – Vince Staples. (sounder)
Several quick hits of new music: Oasis are reissuing a 30th year anniversary of their debut studio album, Definitely Maybe. I guess this is something to add to their 20th anniversary, which was obviously released 10 years.. As they keep reissuing older material, the Gallagher brothers refuse to reunite Oasis – come on bros, just kiss & make up and don’t be so greedy // A couple weeks ago, Gunna came out with a new album called One of Wun – I probably should have talked about it on New Music Friday and since I missed it – Missed Music Monday, but I didn’t. So, here it is. What caught my eye and ear – was the song that included Leon Bridges called “Clear My Rain.” Don’t just go and listen to that one though – be sure to check out the entire album. // The The are back with their first album since 2000. it’s called Ensoulment. // The band – DIIV – has a new album out called: Frog in Boiling Water – there’s a visual for everyone. Don’t worry, I won’t show a video of that. They’re are some out there. Anyway – here’s the band performing from the album – “Brown Paper Bag” (clip)
The way the band was up there, I envisioned Weezer for some reason and was ready for them to break out into some sort of upbeat sound (clip). It didn’t happen, but that’s okay, I’m still looking forward to listening to the rest of “Frog in Boing Water” (clip)
I’ll put a link to that clip on my website . . . in the meantime:
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Andrew Bird – who has a new album out, Zach Bryan (yeah the country guy – Pink Skies – I listened), and yet another Fuller song – that dude is a machine! Plus, anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

(INXS – Devil Inside 12″ Mix)
Hi – my name is Brent Evans and I still double space after typing the period of a sentence. On a similar note of showing my age, my doctor is officially listed under Geriatric Medicine.
(INXS – Devil Inside 12″ Mix)
(Morning Babble Opener)
Happy Weekend – why do I say that every week, because that’s the goal – a Happy Weekend
The last thing that I want to become is that grumpy old guy (clip)
Although, I am feeling my workouts a little longer. Still having a knee issue from a little slip that I had 2 months ago. And my bum shoulder makes me terrified to revisit BJJ again. Is that griping? That’s why I turn to music for a pick me up (New Sensation – Nick 12″ Mix)
That’s the Nick 12″ Mix of the INXS song – “New Sensation” which is part of a collection of nine strictly limited edition colored vinyl 12” records called All Juiced Up Part 2. Features remixes of songs such like the one I played at the beginning today “Devil Inside”, ‘New Sensation” and “Taste It” (clip) I love INXS but I realize that’s a sound that isn’t necessarily for today . . . to some people. Therefore . . .

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
First up – I was happy to see one of my favorite bands with a new song (clip) That’s the National with the Talking Heads cover “Heaven.” Over the past few months, A24 Music have been sharing songs from a new compilation album called: Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute To Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. It all started back in January with Paramore’s version of “Burning Down The House” (clip)
Alright – so, this is confusing . . . hence, the warning. Four years ago, Donald Glover shared a Childish Gambino album that he quietly posted and listed as 3.15.20. That was lockdown time of the pandemic. No real promotion behind it – so, it just sat there. This past week, there was a rerelease that Glover described as “the finished version of 3.15.20.” This time it’s been given a title – Atavista – and includes 11-tracks – one of which is a new song which features Young Nudy. This is called “Little Foot Big Foot” (clip)
Slash – the guitarist from Guns N Roses – has his new solo album out called: Orgy of the Damned – that’s a fun name (clip) Enjoying the cover of the Cream song “Crossroads” with a little help from Gary Clark Jr. – one of my favorite guitarists of today. This album is similar to Slash’s self-titled album of 2010 – a collection of tracks with different singers. However, unlike the Slash album, Orgy of the Damned (imagine getting that invite) has older songs and is more a collection of bluesy covers, (clip) The songs like that one there with AC/DC’s Brian Johnson or the Chris Stapleton one are very well done and released recently. I’m intrigued with Track #1 with The Black Crowes lead man – Chris Robinson – his voice has like a grizzled sound to it. I’m digging it. This is the Steppenwolf cover of “The Pusher” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: The band from Athens, Georgia – Of Montreal – yeah, band is not from Canada. Quick explanation, lead singer Kevin Barnes deemed the band name after a failed romance between himself and a woman “of Montreal”. Ahhhhh. Anyway – new album from them dropped called Lady on the Cusp // Can’t miss this one – Billie Eilish’s new album is fully out in its glory and called Hit Me Hard and Soft. // Aaron Maine has announced a new album as Porches. The album – Shirt arrives September 13th, but today we have the new single “Joker” (clip)
As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from Mat Kearney, A Boogie Wit a Hoodie, Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats and anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

(Myles Smith “Solo” clip)
That song “Solo” has gotten a lot of play for Mr. Myles Smith
(Missed Music Monday opener)
Back in March, Myles Smith had a 6-pack EP – You Promised A Lifetime – come out that included that song “Solo”. However, this past Friday, a brand spanking new song was released by him – called “Stargazing”
This guy’s sound just makes smile. Very enjoyable music. Also, I don’t know if you can say that I “missed” this one. I was ready for it on Friday, but with Myles being from the UK, there was a slight delay on the US receiving this one. On Friday morning, I could see it there, but I just wasn’t allowed to hear it yet.
