(Kinks “Victoria” cut)
Happy Friday Eve!
That’s the Kinks with “Victoria” – track #1 off of their – Arthur – album which on this date back in 1969, it was released. Many fans consider this the best album from the Kinks. I know the website Stereogum listed that. I’ll provide a link at brentevans.net.
(“Father Christmas” cut)
I’m sort of embarrassed to say that it’s the “Father Christmas” song that I know the best from The Kinks.

(“Inside Out” cut)
That’s 1998 Eve 6. But today, we have 2024 Eve 6
(Missed Music Monday opener)
I’ve been a fan of Eve 6 since their song “Inside Out” was a hit back in 98. However, I absolutely loved their album Horoscope from 2000. I had other favorites on that album “On The Roof Again” but the one big hit was “Here’s to the Night”
(clip)
Still digging into this new album called – Dream Fist. On the band’s YouTube channel, they pushed the title track with a video of a duck.
(clip)
So far, my favorites from their new album: “No Time At All” and “Black Wave”
Do yourself a favor and go listen to some new Eve 6. Tasty.

(Phineas and Ferb song)
The musician FINNEAS aka the brother of Billie Eilish has a new album out. I feel bad but whenever I hear his name I think of this show that my kids watched – it was good.
(Phineas and Ferb song)
(Morning Babble Intro)
Happy Weekend! Welcome to October! Do you know how difficult it is to explain to a 9 year-old how Oktoberfest begins in September? (stuttering kid) Oktoberfest typically begins mid-September (this year the 21st) and officially ends the 1st Sunday in October – this year that’s October 6th. I have a feeling that the beer drinking is going to continue throughout October (clip)
Yes, I’m a Phillies fan and that’s a little thing we call Red October. Fingers crossed for me?

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
Batting leadoff – Jake Bugg (favorite clip of “All Kinds of People”) Had to get that song out of the way – just love that part (favorite clip again) and that’s officially it, because there’s 11 other songs on the album and I’ve listened to them all (“I Wrote the Book” clip) Couple weeks ago that was the final single – “I Wrote the Book” – released from this album which is called A Modern Day Distraction. The other song that jumped out to me was track #6 “Waiting for the World” (clip) It’s got another good hook sound to it with the guitar and lyrics (another clip)
The Black Keys have a new song out. How do I know that? They texted me. Yeah, I’m a music geek and therefor sign up for those gimmicks that some of the bands do. BUT – this wasn’t on my radar and the only reason that I’m talking about it right now is because of the text. (“Beautiful People” cut) Obviously, that’s not a new song from the boys but is one of their newer tunes off their Ohio Players album that came out this past April. Another song off that album which I thoroughly enjoyed was “Paper Crown” which also included my man, Beck (cut) I said new song though and there is one today, but it’s also 1 of 4 new songs coming out on their expanded version Ohio Players album. Their calling it The Trophy Edition and its due for arrival on Nov. 15th (“Mi Tormenta” clip) “Mi Tormenta” is the released song and it features DannyLux as well as The Black Keys Dan Auerbach singing in Spanish for the first time. By the way, 2 of the other 4 songs will include Beck – so excited for that (Beck drop)
(Pause) Now – I’m not the biggest fan of this band, but I respect them – they’re good. Very good. Just not for me. Coldplay. (clip) Moon Music is their 10th studio album. The band is claiming that they’re only doing 2 more albums as a band. Like Jesus and his 12 disciples – Coldplay wants to spread its gospel out amongst 12 albums in all. I should just play a song (clip) Spotify is pushing that one called “All My Love.” Nevertheless, the band envisions 12 albums in all (one of which will be an animated musical) You’ve still got time, but I guess you can say that countdown is on. Hourglass? I did listen to the entire album of Moon Music – the song that jumped out to me was track 7 the “I Am A Mountain” song (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: U2 – remember them – they actually dropped not just one, but two new songs and they were actually available last week. MMM. I blew it. Anyway – full album called How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb will arrive November 22nd. // Ho-Ho-Ho! Little Big Town is offering up some early holiday joy with a full release of their first-ever Christmas album called The Christmas Record. I won’t rush things and play something from it. But – it is happening and it is out there. // Myles Smith released another new song. I follow this guy on Instagram and he always has the most uplifting, happy posts. He’s got really good music, too, with his latest called “Whisper” (clip)
Thank you to Spotify, Rolling Stone, Apple Music, uDiscoverMusic, Pigeons & Planes, Pitchfork, Louder, Spill Magazine, Dan Deluca of the Philly Inquirer & I know there’s more.
Be sure to check out the playlist on Spotify. As I mentioned in the beginning, it’s a playlist of songs that I’ve talked about and thought about: so, you’ll see some new music there from The Wrecks, bbno$, Grace Bowers with a Zepplin cover, and Weezer who covered the song “Here Comes My Girl” for the TV series Bad Monkey featuring Vince Vaughn (“You’re so Money”) and anything that I really messed up and missed – well, that’s why I’ll be doing Missed Music Monday on Monday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “I don’t know how to function without music. When I’m not making it, I’m listening to it. It gives me courage and takes care of my mind.” – by Billie Eilish – the sister of FINNEAS
Who again does have a new album out now called For Cryin’ Out Loud but it still makes me think of that cartoon show (clip) Did you know that Bowling for Soup was the band that did that theme song?

(“Wait On You” clip)
The song is called “Wait On You” and its off an album that came out this past June called Notes From A Quiet Life. Ernest Greene is behind the band and he calls it: Washed Out
I found out about this album because I heard on the radio an older song from Washed Out called “Amor Fati”
(“Amor Fati” clip)
I carry the Amor Fati coin as a reminder to keep feeding that flame – with both the good and the bad – any obstacle or adversity is simply fuel for the fire.
I used to carry it in my wallet but then it began to look like a condom mark. That’s not a good look for a husband and father.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: “If it happened, then it was meant to happen, and I am glad that it did when it did. I am meant to make the best of it.” – by Ryan Holiday
Sometimes, it gets tidied up; other times, not so much.
When all else fails: there’s video!
(“Starseed” clip)
The song “Starseed” has always been one of my favorites from the band – Our Lady Peace.
It’s also track #1 on a 6-pack Greatest Hits collection that just came out a couple weeks ago.
(Missed Music Monday opener)
Back in 2023, Our Lady Peace were the Canadian Ambassadors for Record Store Day. They came out with a Limited Edition Greatest Hits Vinyl. I got it from Rainbow Records in Newark, DE.
(“Clumsy” clip)
Don’t listen to that line – never throw away your radio. On this new EP – there’s actual 5 greatest hits and 1 new song from Our Lady Peace. They also say Volume 1, which means more is coming. I’ll be on the lookout.

(Linkin Park “Heavy is the Crown” clip)
Some controversary around the new Linkin Park music coming out.
I just have to say that I’m on the side of really liking it.
(Linkin Park “Heavy is the Crown” clip)
(Morning Babble Intro)
Happy Weekend – a full Autumn weekend. Next week is October, then Thanksgiving, and then (Elf clip) I was going to say 2025, but I guess there is that Santa thing happening, too. Just an FYI – Kelly Clarkson just released “You For Christmas” (clip)
It just came out today – it counts.

New Music Friday:
I put together a Spotify playlist of the songs that I talked about and thought about today for New Music Friday. Click here for that!
One of my favorite bands (clip) who came out with two albums last year (show them) The National have announced a new album (“I Need My Girl” clip) It’s not new material, but instead a live album called Rome. Officially drops on December 13th, so a Christmas vinyl gift for Brent is there for the taking (clip) The show that was recorded was from their June 3rd concert in the name of the album: Rome – 21 tracks but 4 have been released already. I played a clip of “I Need My Girl” but here’s a little bit of “Lit Up” which first originated on their Alligator album from 2005 (clip)
Couple weeks ago, I mentioned how Lady Gaga plans to release her long-awaited seventh album next year in February. Album is being referred to as “LG7”. But today, we got a whole different album from the actress who plays Harley Quinn (“Oh, When The Saints”) Big band classics can be heard on what’s being called – Harlequin – and also the companion album to her upcoming film: Joker: Folie à Deux (fully ado) (“Folie à Deux” song clip) Fully Ado is one of two new songs on the album. The other 11 are wonderfully done covers. The other new one is called “Happy Mistake” (clip)
This guy – Alex Warren – he was actually on my Missed Music Monday this past Monday. (“Burning Down” clip) He’s a got a lot of plays on a bunch of his singles. Those singles can all be found on now his fully released album called: You’ll be Alright, Kid (Chapter 1) (clip of “Catch My Breath”) “Catch My Breath” is the song being pushed by Spotify today, but you still have 9 others to enjoy. I sorta enjoyed the last track which also the title track of the album – “You’ll be Alright, Kid” (clip)
Several quick hits of new music: British rock band The Cure. That sorta sounds like “Rap Guy’s Girlfriends” (clip) Anyway, The Cure – they released their first new song in 16 years. All 6 minutes and 54 seconds of it – whew – it’s called “Alone” // The Weeknd and Playboi Carti have officially released “Timeless” which is the second preview off of the Weeknd’s new album: Hurry Up Tomorrow // Mother Mother is a band that I listened to on many runs of mine with their song “Get Up” (clip) They just released Mother EP – yes, by the band: Mother Mother. It’s a different sound that I enjoy tuning into at times like “Fat Kids” (clip)
